I know exactly what he was referring to, I read it at whitehouse.gov.
And what part of Cornyn's letter that I posted is false? He stated that he's not aware of any prior precedent for this. As far as I know this is true. He also stated that the action raises the "specter of a data collection system", which it does.
The Obama Admin was at the forefront of using the web as a campaign marketing tool. He's the President now, CEO of the country, he's not head of the Obama marketing department anymore. Totally different mind-set and I don't think he's made the full transition yet.
While I was no fan of Clinton, where he was more effective than Obama (thusfar) was in reading the political winds and finding the center when necessary. Clinton was a masterful politician and knew how to make deals. He also knew what battles not to fight. Obama is a true-believer in more left leaning policies and seems unwilling to make the compromises necessary to forward agenda with minimal political damage. He continues to fight a losing battle without compromise and IMO this will cost him in 2010 by losing at least one house, if not both houses of Congress.
