Here's the deal. In many respects we went off on the Rams. The defense only had two bad plays the whole game, and forced two (one that counted) turnover(s). Marc Bulger never got his feet set all game. Stephen Jackson was held mostly in check. Donnie Avery, their stud WR in development, was a complete non-factor. Randy McMichael did more in that game.
And Jason Campbell torched the Rams secondary on third down all day long. He was probably one big play away from putting the entire league on notice.
And, we spent the whole week focusing on the 9 red zone plays that prevented us from getting a touchdown. 67 offensive plays, and we chose to focus on the 9 or 10 that prevented us from getting TDs. All because we're trying to find an answer to the question, "what's wrong with the (1-1) Redskins?" and "Why can't we get into the end zone against the Rams? It's the Rams for crying out loud!"
We will win this week, but some things will go wrong. And there probably will not be a 40 point explosion. We might get 30, maybe. If we commit no turnovers, we probably score on 6 drives. We will probably score between 24 and 30 points. And for those who want to focus on what is still ailing the Redskins offense that we can't score 40 points against the worst defense ever, well, there will probably be mistakes made in a 60 minute game. But we will be 2-1, and I feel that this win will be particularly convincing.
