Anyway, as someone who has been a fan for, well, a long time, I'm wondering if in previous lean times (the 60s for example), there was the same backlash or was there not because there weren't the same means of communication that there are now.

To be honest I don't ever remember a time in the history of the Redskins organization when there was the kind of backlash we've begun to see lately. I went to my first Redskin game two yrs. before Sammy Baugh retired, and all through the years after his retirement we experienced some pretty bad teams until the arival of Vince Lombardi, then George Allen. Fans grew disenchanted during those times as well, but nothing like what we're seeing now.
That rumor about a move to LA I had heard as well that's why I mentioned it the wsay I did in mjy post. It was not something however, I had lend much credence too.
