Exactly. Let's say for a second Goodell told Snyder no way, you have to wait until after the season or until there is a vacancy. Snyder says fine, the second the clock hits 0:00 in San Diego Snyder sits down with Gray and boom, Rooney rule satisfied. Would it be any more legit if the timing felt better to people?
I understand people get upset that the "spirit" of the Rooney rule is being circumvented, but this happens all the time.
