I think Zorn's issue is he didn't like the long windup and slow throw. So he tries to change it. Even Colt Brennan looked horrid trying to utilize the throwing motion Zorn wanted. Why not just let the QB throw the ball how he has been throwing it for his entire life. A throwing motion they have used and have muscle memory as to when to release the ball to get the ball where they want it. Now you change it up and you have QB's trying to think too much in order to get the job done vs. simply backing up and throwing the ball down field.

I understand your question and have thought the same. However, QB's have not been throwing all their lives against NFL defenses, where defenders are bigger, faster, and smarter, and therein lies the difference.
long windup: not a problem so much in college but NFL defenders will jump the throw
sidearm release (Brennan): not a problem so much in college but a big problem when facing tall, athletic NFL linemen and linebackers
