It's been a long time, but I remember Peppers playing b-ball at UNC. He was a solid rebounder & post defender, had a nice jump hook, but not much of an offensive game otherwise. Being drafted in the 2nd round of the nba draft is analogous to the rounds 6-7 of the nfl, if that. Chances of making a roster are under 50%.

Peppers might've become a 12/10 guy as you say in the nba, but not without a lot of offseason work & improvement. He would've had a hard time making a roster as a rookie on most teams IMO. By comparison, he was a sure 1st rounder in the nfl draft.
