Per John Clayton:

The Redskins dropped $63 million of dead salary cap pro-ration with the retirement of Chris Samuel and the releases of veterans Rock Cartwright, Todd Collins, Randy Thomas, Latrell Betts, Cornelius Griffin, Antwaan Randle-El and cornerback Fred Smoot. If there were a $123 million salary cap, the Redskins would have been $39 million over the cap after those transactions. For cash, the Redskins cut their payroll to $70.6 million, fourth-lowest in the league. Knowing Snyder, that number will grow.

The FO has a plan and it looks like its take more into account than how fast ink takes to dry. To me it looks like they are making moves for the future. I don't care if there's a cap or not, fiscal responsibility is much more important after seeing all the empty seats in FedEx this year. A couple million here and there for mediocre/stopgap players will limit what we will spend when some one we want/really need does come along. Like a few others said earlier the skilled FAs are older than what we need to reload, or whatever you want to call it.
