Teams, in general (this excludes pretty much the Raiders) are going to draft for value in the third round, and RB is the ultimate value position. The Jets took Shonn Green with the 65th pick last year, knowing he'd start behind Leon Washington and Thomas Jones. I think that when everything is said and done, the Green pick will look like a reach (though it looks good now), but I, personally, am much higher on Hardesty. |
For my mock, i was assuming that Pat Williams comes back. I was tempted to go DL with any of my first 3 picks; however there was never a DT there who had the value I wanted. The vikings also are in dire need of a complementary back and Hardesty just represented too much value at this pick to pass up. considering i spent my first two picks on defense, i also figured i needed to give the offense another toy to help lord favre in his (probably) last run at a superbowl. thats kind of where i was coming from, atleast. but you're right - DL is a major need that i didnt address with any of my first three picks. perhaps we can extend the draft a round or two?
