I don't think we should match it, but I defer to Gibbs and Williams.

Pierce's deal isn't far from what we gave Trotter. Pierce looks like a Pro Bowler, but he's only had one season. Plus, Williams made our defense look great with Wynn, Griffin, Salave'a, and Evans on our defensive line, LeMar Marshall at LB, and Clark at safety. Half our defensive starters were undrafted free agents. So, perhaps Pierce looked better than he really is.
