A suspension doesn't require a conviction or jail time, he clearly violated the "personal conduct" regulations.
He needs to sent a message to be responsible before he makes more bad decisions. His actions reflect very badly on all NFL players, brings negative attention to his team everywhere they go and is simply just despicable on a human level.
This suspension is consistent with other players' punishments for violating the personal conduct code. To let him off would make the league and Commissioner look very hypocritical.
The team said they'd punish him if the league didn't.
