No, I said we cannot overlook cornerback with the 9th pick. Like others here, I'd be very nervous about Harris, Springs and Wilds in the secondary. And if one of them goes down, somebody's going to get picked on, and our pass defense is exposed.
I say that because I don't necessarily think that we'll take a wide receiver in the first round now. Unless they're planning to dump James Thrash, or let Taylor Jacobs keep the bench warm
again this season, a fifth wideout who also happens to be a rookie simply won't get a whole lot of playing time. Patten and Moss are instant starters in my mind. They're the replacements for Coles and Gardner. In Joe Gibbs offense, with a heavy emphasis on the running game, there's no reason to spend such a high pick on a guy who just won't see much of the field this season.
I think we now have other pressing needs.
