a police officer can knock on your door and ask if he can search your home. you can say no and the cop cant do anything about it. when i lived in san diego, i lived in what they call the ghetto. its not really ghetto, at least not by DC standards. there were a shit ton of illegals but they were great. so close to the border they were so worried about everything that they wouldnt bother you, very very polite and respectful.
