Re: Federal Judge: Enough With the Stupid Names
Okay - true story.
My wife used to work in staffing and had many of these types of names come across her desk on job applications. A woman of African-American descent hands her an application with the first name "C'mon". My wife, a middle class caucasian woman - looked at the applicant quizzically and said (pronouncing the name in accordance with accepted english phonetics) "uhhh, 'Come on'?" .... The woman heaves a heavy, aggrieved sigh (complete with eye-roll and neck movement) and with LARGE amounts of attitude looks at her and says "simone".
As a friend of ours says: Sorry - those letters in that order DO NOT make those sounds.
