I actually read that there are concerns that the oil spill could spell extinction for the Brown Pelican, Louisiana's state bird. I think it was in the Times-Picayune that they were saying that LA has stressed the bird a lot. (Removed because it was incorrect).
I don't know where I read that and the majority of it could be wrong because that's just what I remember from a few weeks ago...I'll try to dig something up.
