Looks like there are a few people here who dismiss the impact of going without electricity, even for a period of years. Just think about all of the people in the world's hospitals on life support, or having to go through surgery.

I don't think we realize how truly dependent we are on electricity.
I realize the impact but I just think I could survive if we did have something like that happen. Gas would be worth more then money and you would have to guard what you have like it was money. There was a show last year on Discovery where they had people survive for 45 days like the world had pretty much ended. Its called The Colony and its getting ready to come back on.
