The rules have changed in the past few months and now coordinators and other top level coaches must be available to the media on a reasonable basis during training camp, preseason and the regular season. Well they haven't so much changed as they have been a bit more clearly defined now.
But what Parcells and Schottenheimer used to do, and I think guys like Andy Reid currently do is they basically say "Why talk to so and so on my staff when I can just give you all the answers you need since I'm the head coach" It's part of their one voice controls all philosophy.
