He’s waiting too long after the receiver cuts to make the pass, a sign that he perhaps does not yet trust them. Receivers who have broken free on crossing patterns often have to reach back inside to make a catch. His passes have allowed beaten defenders to recover. At what point do you get concerned? If he has a bad preseason, too.

Given his track record, it is too early to worry too much about DMac.
