Re: 2010 NFL Preseason
Serious question, do you guys really put any faith in preseason games as far as the whole team goes? Sorry but I don't, which is not to say that preseason games aren't instructive, but more so in indivual battles and camp time should count too imho.
Case in point, if one only goes by 1 preseason game then the Redskins win the SB by default and Rex Grossman is MVP. Now I think Shannhan has the Redskins headed in the right direction and imho there is a SB in your future I think a year one appearance is asking alittle to much. I can't see any moves that weren't a positive for you and injuries have been held to a minimun and luck always plays a part so with that a 10/11 game win season would be great, don't you think?
As for my AFC East:
Most media outlets have had a love crush on the Pats since they started winning and thru the 2006 season I think they were right in their assessment. Since then they've lost their core group both on offense and defense. What you've seen with Fred Taylor in preseason will disappear once the real bullets are flying and could very well be on IR by mid season yet they still have Brady and its his arm they will ride off into the sunset.
My personal feeling about the rest of the AFC East is that it will be a dog fight between all four teams with the Bills ending up as the bottom feeder but only because of their lack of a good QB and the injury bug. While I hate the J-E-T-S with a passion Rex will have his team playing hard yet Sanchez is going to be the key and I feel he will have another up and down year. I also think he will implode at home in Nov./Dec. when the winds blow and the cold weather hits. As for my Dolphins I feel Mike Nolan was our best pickup of the off season and for a team ranked 20th in defense in 09 we surely needed a Mike Nolan type change. I wish I could say glowing things about Chad Henne with conviction but he still needs to show it on the field and imho he hasn't so far, he is still lacking in feeling the pressure and reacting quickly enough and although B. Marshall was a great pickup and should make the whole offense better. If one only goes by the first preseason game then the Henne -Marshall connection is a sham, btw I'm not one to use weather, mud, or wet balls as an excuse. If one pays a Marshall type player top #1 money then he better catch the dang ball!
So there you have my honest opinion on the AFC East and my prediction as to the winner, it will be desided during the last two or three games of the season, quite possibly the very last game, we shall see.
