Here's something for your in-laws to think about: I was the same as your wife with my Mom, she smoked her whole life.....until she died at 71 of a smoking-related heart attack. Other than the smoking she was perfectly healthy. Another close family member on my wife's side passed at 58 from a smoking related heart attack, same situation, smoked all her life, otherwise perfectly healthy. Now my MIL, just turned 65, has advanced emphasyma, COPD, and untreateable lung cancer. If she survives until Halloween it will be a gift from God. Again, outside of the smoking related issues, perfectly healthy.

While all this is sad by itself, it has occured over a five year period and has exposed our son to close family members dying that a teenager shouldn't have to experience. I'm sure your in-laws love your son more than anything.....ask them if they want him to experience losing them long before he should.

If they're serious about trying to quit, Chantix has worked for a couple of folks I know. Expensive, but so are $ 5+ per pack cigs. Good luck. I wish you and your family the best.
