The battle is going to rage on about 3-4 vs 4-3. With very little change in personell, the group has not performed as well in the defense they're playing now as they did in the one they played in previous years, there's no escaping that fact.
The team has limited options. They're not going to switch back to the 4-3 though some have suggested maybe a hybrid version, there are no players available that could be brought in to help.
Shanahan was asked if he felt we had the personell to make the scheme work and his answer was yes. Therefore, the only option left is to find a way to get them to perform better. The alternatives are limited, coaches can motivate and put players in the proper position to make plays, but the players have to take the initiative and demonstrate the desire needed to get the job done.
