I don't think we will really know the truth in the matter ever, especially now that it is so public, but suppose Goodell interviews both, and in the privacy of his office, they both say that it was a mutual communication. Should Favre be fined, or punished under the protect the shield notion?

No! If it was an affair gone bad where someones feelings got hurt, then there shouldn't be anytype off backlash or punishment by the League or public. On the other hand his wife is a diffrent story. She has the right to do anything she wants to this drama queen.
