I personally think they saw how talented the guy is and decided to really coach him up and see if he would buy in. Once they saw that, they had to reason to keep McNabb. I really don't think they saw this coming though, not to this degree. They were ready to move forward with Kolb as their starter, I think they are genuinely surprised at how quickly Vick has grasped the offense and taken to the coaching they've given him.
