Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

Let's think realistically for a second. Jason Campbell was/is a talented player who has the physical abilities. Overall good guy and decent football IQ. If we had held on to Campbell this year, I wouldn't have been upset in the least.

However, the biggest knocks I could see on Jason Campbell, were the inability to be consistent with reading defenses, not taking a lot of chances down field (although that could have been more of a system thing,) and he's just not a leadership type of guy. Great guy though, team player, model citizen.... but I don't see him ever truly being a Warren Moon, Peyton Manning, or a Drew Brees. Definitely not a field general.

Donovan McNabb, on the other hand, has those leadership qualities. Mostly because he's had experience in the playoffs and the Super Bowl, but he's a proven winner. He also has a lot more confidence in his arm than what I saw of Campbell here. He takes more shots downfield (again, could be a system thing but anyway,) and for the most part, he's good at reading defenses and he makes more good decisions than bad.

Both QBs have faced similar situations. No offensive line, no running game, new systems, and a team that doesn't know how to win. The real deal will be comparing the two when the supporting casts are upgraded.

All in all, I still believe we upgraded by going with Donovan McNabb even though it doesn't appear so this season.
