It was one year where the team started the year seriously messed up due to years of incompetence, and all the points have been fairly hashed over.
1 - Shanahan switched to 3-4 hybrid because he felt it offered more in terms of turnovers we won at least 2 games (dallas and chicago specifically) due to turnovers. And if the change was going to take place better to do it and see who can adapt and who can't.
2 - Kyle Shanahan was the OC and had done a good job in Houston as playcaller. If MS was interfering with KS people would have criticized him for that.
3 - Actually a lot of the blue collar (non-diva) players constantly said how MS was doing a great job laying out the rules and expectations clearly.
4 - yeah and he made some good ones too. You take the good with the bad.
5 - I saw a coach who let young talent sit and learn behind established professionals until he thought they were ready to take the field based on their practice and work ethic.
Bottomline I give him a C this year, but the important measure will be how the team responds and plays next year.
