Thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this. Hopefully, the international community will rise to the occasion to assist.
As to the nuclear plant, it is a concern but nothing more. The reactor in question is a modern Boiling Water Reactor and is Japan's "most modern reactor". It is simply incomparable to Russia's first generation'ish Light Water Graphite Reactors such as Chernobyl. (In Chernobyl, the graphite in the graphite moderator caught on fire).
