Re: Name change
Honestly, they talk about taking the Native Americans completely out of the name scheme in sports because it's used in a slanderous way? Huh? If this is the case, then the same could be said about the Fighting Irish, The Orangemen, The Vikings, The Cowboys, etc....
I think this PC movement has gotten way out of hand. Maybe I can buy the slur of the term "redskin", but to be offended by calling a team "The Warriors" or "The Braves" is just plainly out stupid.
I mean, what I find hilarious is that television and movies are being more liberal about allowing profanity and telling people that we shouldn't be offended by the language in those regards, but that we should be offended by what some professional sports team uses as their mascot name and has been doing so for over a half century. It's OK to hear someone call somebody a "MF" or either one of the "B" words, but if a sports team is using a mascot name such as Redskins or Braves and not using it in a derogatory manner, then it is offensive. Somewhere along the way are priorities have gotten screwed up.
