GMs have to adopt the attitude though,
if there's a player that will be a game-breaker to be obtained
and the current roster isn't worth preserving. However, rather than ask the coach to tank, they blow up the team so that it can't win that many games. The Caps, while in a different sport, did adopt this strategy.
