Well, imo, to most sports fans, the effect of leadership matters more than "how it's done". There is usually not much info available to the fans to say anything too conclusive about any player's ability to lead or how he does it

But I'm not sure if I agree wholly that the distinction shouldn't be drawn at all, since different styles may, and at least sometimes do, affect the follower's behavior and emotions in different ways. Of course, this stuff is more usful for the managers, executives, and academic researchers.
