You can really tell which posters are older and grew up with the original trilogy, as opposed to the younger ones that respect the originals, but don't have the emotional attachment of living through the phenomenon that it was. Consider this: In 1977-83 there was no internet, most people didn't have cable TV yet, video games were in their infant stage, VCR's were new and expensive (and the idea of renting movies was yet to come).....so people actually went to the movies! And if they liked it, they went again!
I guess for us older guys, seeing and hearing that opening in a theater just brings a emotional response like being a kid again, and people who are too young to have been there just don't get that. Yeah, like most people, for me the first two prequels were a little disappointing, and the dialogue has always been lacking, even in the originals....But still, it's a new Star Wars movie! And from what I've heard/read, this one stacks up better with the original three...so I can't wait!!!
I wasn't old enough to see the originals in the theater but my parents made sure I got to see them all whenever I wanted to when they became available. I used to live, eat, and breathe Star Wars and James Bond movies as a kid and even though the new trilogy doesn't compare to the original 3, I still got goosebumps each and every time I went to see the new three in the theaters when the opening music comes on as well as certain points in the movies.
