If folks broke the law they should be prosecuted and punished. If folks stayed within the laws/regulations then we need to look at the problem being gov't interference in the markets. Without gov't programs to incentivize home ownership, lending standards would not have been eased to create the bad mortgage assets that triggered the financial crisis.
