If I remember right the year before (1993) he went to the Jets Art Monk was a free agent and the Redskins let him test the market. He found this insulting but eventually re-signed a one-year deal when no one took him.

Then in 1994 he left for the Jets for less money than what he would have gotten with the Redskins because he was upset at how we was treated the year before

Is this accurate? Can someone confirm?
