Re: Modified PS2 and Xbox Consoles

Hey Malcolm

Check out this site:
http://www.xbox-scene.com/

You can find info on all types of different mod chips.

People with the older solder chips seem to be doing fine with their boxes (but you best know someone that knows how to solder, or you could fry your board). OTOH, people have been having trouble with the solderless chips b/c they don't stay on the motherboard (you have to use the rivets to keep them in).

If you get it done right, make sure you swap hard drives for something bigger (like 120 gig)... you can copy the games onto the hard drive (instead of using the DVD-Rs) and they run much faster (shorter load times, etc). You can store anywhere from 30-40 games on a hard drive at once. You can either copy the games from the hard disc (like a rental) or you can dl them onto your computer and use a crossover cable and an ftp program (like flashfxp) to your xbox.

only thing with modded boxes is that you can't go live...
