I actually don't recall too many people making a big stink over having short wideouts. I think the general consensus was that small, fast recievers (i.e. Patriots-style) are en vogue now and for good reasons (i.e. the new emphasis on contact 5 yards past the LOS). Nevertheless, I do remember some people making a few comments here and there about the lack of height in our WR corps.
