I think that is more likely the truth.
Plus no one has mentioned that The Pastor may be one of those people who is a poor listener and thus heard what he wanted to hear.
Haslett: "We're going to buy a ham"
The Pastor: "Haslett said that we are going to try to trade up with the Rams."
