The whole evading taxes bit here is a petty reason to be honest. Let's think about how many office pools across America that are never reported as income. However, the bigger issue in all of this is circumventing the salary cap. Looked what happened to the Minnesota Timberwolves when they tried to pay Joe Smith under the table. They got slammed big time.
I really don't think bonuses for head hunting really mean anything these days because the fines usually occurred by dirty play will always be greater than that of the pool they might be winning. However, no coach should teach or suggest dirty play of any sort. You can knock opponents out of the game without having to succumb to dirty tactics.
