Amazon.com: 182 Days in Iraq (9781595711359): Phil Kiver: Books
I read about halfway through this book that I found at a small thrift store before I realized I didn't like the author at all. Personally I felt like this book was garbage, and the author (though honest) really doesn't have any business writing a book at all, even if the book is just a collection of his daily blog posts. He talks about how as a journalist in the Army, he spent most of his days poolside at Saddam's former palace in the Green Zone, and he's also very critical of those around him and you can tell he really thinks highly of himself.
It might be a honest account of what his time in Iraq was like, but I'd much rather read authentic war stories about the sacrifices soldiers had to make instead of reading about a "journalist" drinking and catching a tan while he's at "war." According to the 1 star reviews on Amazon (a couple written by soldiers who actually knew him apparently) he went to Iraq as a Specialist, got demoted to PFC while he was there, and then left the Army as a Private later. If that is true I would not be suprised. Either way, don't waste your money on this book.
