There are a lot of athletes who don't sign autographs but they can't be kind about it. I remember being with a player once. And for the life of me I can't remember who it was, I want to say Miles Austin but I don't think that's right. Anyway, someone asked him for his autograph and he said "Thank you but I don't sign autographs. It's a pleasure to meet you and I really thank you for being a fan" And they shook hands and exchanged some small talk and that was that. And it was totally respectful and fine.

So I mean if you don't want to, either be polite about it like Austin or fake interest like London Fletcher.
