i dont know anything about dvd shrink

divx is just a codec that uses a good amount of cpu to play back a really compressed form of video without noticeable loss in quality. The end effect (if your computer is at least 800-900mhz) is really tiny file sizes for high quality video (full uncompressed dvd type quality goes from about 4gb (mpeg) to about 650-700mb and looks exactly the same).
