OK, in your scenario, we'd have spent $11 million on Smoot's bonus, all would be well, and we'd have drafted someone else - Mike Williams, DeMarcus Ware - who knows.
That person would be in line for the same $11 million bonus we gave Rogers. Our cap isn't so healthy that we can make signing of that magnitude without further paring of the roster. I think you may be underestimating Harris as well, who started for six years in Chicago and two in Indy, and only played nickel on the cheap last year because he was recovering from injury. He played all 16 games for us last year as well - something neither Springs nor Smoot can claim.
