i'm thinking this was a mistake:

"Both Griffin and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said they don’t want to force the Browns to prepare for both Griffin and backup Kirk Cousins on Sunday, and therefore they’re not going to tell the Browns whether Griffin is ready to play."
