Good question. I think this would have depended on how the defense would have played in the first part of the season. I think Manning could have worked his magic with our offense, I just don't know if the defense would have been able to play decent enough to get the offense through the adjustment period of the first half of the season. I don't think our defense is nowhere near where the Denver defense was this past season.
In the comeback game against San Diego, the Denver D played a big role in keeping the game within reach and put up some points themselves in the second half. I don't think our defense is able to do the same.
The only thing that makes consider that Manning would have been able to win here is that as good as our offense was this past season, it wasn't very efficient. We were getting tons of offensive yards, but had a terrible 3rd down conversion for the most part in the season and at times didn't do well in scoring in the redzone (see first game against the Giants). I wonder if Manning would have been able to overcome those inefficiencies. Talent-wise in offense, I think Manning could have been successful with the players we acquired.
