Not sure why Skins fans (especially on twitter) are flipping out about this.(not you in particular CR, just in general) AJ Smith is a very good talent evaluator. His main problem was his ego and bullheadedness with his players. He let quality talent walk away from the team without getting anything in return. We really don't know if some of this centered around San Diego having a cheap ass owner that didn't want to spend money.
I wouldn't go as far as to put Vinny and Smith in the same category at all. Vinny had a low self esteem issue, Smith has a high self esteem issue.
I don't give a shit what anybody says...this is a hell of a resume.
