NCAA Denies Williams

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1868537

I for one think this is bs. it's not like he was the one trying to break the tradition and only declared himself for the draft after it was ruled by a judge that it was legal for him to do so. He didn't make any money off of his attempt to join the nfl early so why does it seem like a huge deal to the NCAA to just let him be able to play college football again?

Its bullshit. If they didnt already say he could enter that draft, thats one thing. However the way he got screwed over is rediculous. I hope those guys are happy, keep the best player in college football out of college football. That makes sense.

really sucks for him. Someone will still take a chance on him in the first round next year, just a matter of when.

Hey, he was TOLD before he left USC if it gets overruled and he has hired an agent he is not elegable for NCAA play. He knew the risks when he declared. I don't see a cry of sympathy for Marice Clarrett who actually did all the work for Mike to try to come out early. He knew what the result might be and he deserves to sit out just like Clarrett.

that's because clarett didn't have the talent or stats to back up him going early and would have been drafted anywhere from the 2nd to the 4th round whereas williams would have been in the top 5 picks in this last years draft. Plus he was also TOLD after the ruling was reversed that if he paid back all of the money made, fired his agent, and took enough classes during the summer with the required GPA, that he'd regain his eligability. I'm willing to bet he gets drafted by san diego next year with either their pick or ny's which ever one is higher.

SEASON RECORD ATT YDS AVG TD REC YDS AVG TD
2002 - 222 1237 5.6 16 12 104 8.7 2

Not bad for playing 10 games and only getting 4 carries in one game, and 14 in another. Clarett got that team to the title game.

I thought one of the problems was that he hasn't taken any classes since the ruling was reversed.

Check out this letter written by Jeremy Bloom-Colorado Receiver/Olympic Skier-about the NCAA

he took and passed the required amount of classes with a higher than required gpa during the summer and thought that was what was being asked of him.

yeah the ncaa is screwing over Bloom too. I remember that being a bit of a big story last year and they still won't let him play.
