What are we doin about DB's?
All this talk about our defense what are we gonna do about our corner back situation? Is Rogers ready for the fulltime job?

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
Rogers will definitely go into this season as the starter across from Springs. We'll probably sign a veteran nickel guy to replace Harris and possibly use a draft pick on a CB too.

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
Yea Roger is ready but look for either a draft pick or cheap F/A to sign with the Skins as well. Roger's had shown signs of promise last year and he will start as the #2

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
There's no doubt in my mind that Rogers can handle being the starting corner. I won't be surprised if he overtakes Springs as the top corner on the team by midseason. I was very impressed by what he did toward the end of the season. And he can hit a little, that's always nice.

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
Although Rogers had a slow start to his rookie season, he came on strong near the end, showing that he's ready to be a full-time starter. Springs is always solid at the other corner spot although age and injuries make him a slight concern. The loss of Harris (whose contract was too much) hurts the team at nickleback. Expect that need to be addressed in the 2nd or 4th round, assuming we fill positions at DE, TE, and 3rd string QB through free agency, in addition to re-signing some of our own key free agents (like Ryan Clark and Khary Campbell). Other needs at WLB, OL, S, P, K, etc. will likely be addressed in the lower rounds of the draft. Finally, the team must re-sign Ade Jimoh because of his valuable contributions on special teams and in dime formations.

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
Right now we have Rogers, Springs, Taylor, Prioleou, and Jimoh manning the pass defense. Also, Lamar Marshall is a converted safety with excellent coverage skills.
It looks like Prioleou may be good insurance in case Clark goes in free agency. Walt Harris may be brought back on a more cap friendly contract if other options dont work out. Rogers is definetly ready to start. If we sign Archuletta, I think we pick up a corner in the draft (4th round). If we don't, we will probably find a free agent corner to help with the third DB spot and Clark comes back.

I might be wrong but I think Jimoh is still a free agent.

our #2 pick is going to be OL or CB #3. if they really want to win now, a good backup OG/OT is actually more important. jimoh is NOT a good #3, but he'd be better as the #3 CB than seeing a current backup lineman go onto the field. |

No doubts about Rodgers. And I'm not afraid to say this. I have no doubts about Jimoh at nickel either!

Jimoh tendered. I don't particularly like Prioleau.

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
Looks like we will be taking one in the second round since we signed wr's and it looks like we might get Carter for DE. If we take one in the 2nd I would say Kelly Jennings from Miami would be our best bet.

Re: What are we doin about DB's?
Yeah i agree our second round pick will be a DB or a player on the defensive side of the ball. All of the so called draft experts, Kiper and the guys fron NFL network are saying the draft is really deep at DB and LB. Kiper is saying this year is so deep at DB that you can pick up a good saftey in the second round. hhmmmm.....???
Which begs the question, are we going to overpay for tiny little Archuleta? |
