Re: Big Ben was close to death

Yeah...his "excuse" for not wearing a helmet was "I forgot to go in the basement to get it".

I lost even more respect for the guy when I heard that!

I just hate when those that are gifted and blessed wanna roll the dice and be oblivious to prolonging their career. I expect when you sign to a team and become their guy, that contract buys your life, privacy- gone your a celebrity, everything should be committed to football and the org., NFL money doesn't exist its not real, what is it 1% of AMericans are $millionares. Dont be a jackass, others would kill to be in his position to make that money let alone even to be able to continue playing the sport is a god given gift.

They already have a crash test dummy, your a pro athlete, Millions of people are out of work, homeless, sick and dying its a slap in the face when someone is careless enough to disregard safety b/c unconsciously he knows he'll never be that guy. Is he still a hero to Pitt? I dont want to see any cheesy Bob costas or joe buck tributes before games how he overcame w/ slow motion images, of passing. You know its coming. Hopefully he will pull his team down this year.

Re: Big Ben was close to death

That day I wasn't, I forgot it. I literally forgot it," he said. "You know there are times that, people that have been making a big deal for the last couple years about me riding first of all, and then me riding without a helmet, but it's one of those things that I ride with a helmet also. I do a little bit of both. If you don't wear a seat belt every time you ride in the car should I label you as a person who doesn't wear a seat belt? And unfortunately I happened to not have it on that day because I forgot it in the basement."

These are the words of someone who was "seconds from death", and "lucky to be alive". Not the brightest commentary, I have heard, considering the event and possible consequences.

He is not very bright is he? So I'm guessing with his logic a chick that hooks 50% of the time should be labeled a part time hooker. Better yet, an entrepreneur.

He's still a douchebag.

Re: Big Ben was close to death

As a motorcycle rider for many years, I keep my helmet (and protective eyewear), right next to the cycle keys. The idea of "forgetting" one's helmet is a clear indication that he hardly ever uses it at all in spite of his statements to the contrary.
