Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
Per Profootballtalk.com:
BENGALS TAKE BROOKS IN "TURD" ROUND Two league sources advise us that the Cincinnati Bengals have selected linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the third round of the Supplemental Draft. It figures. Perhaps Marvin Lewis and the Bengals should change the name of the third round to the "turd" round, since they've now used three consecutive picks in round three on guys of questionable character. In the 2005 draft, Lewis snagged receiver Chris Henry, who has since been arrested four times. In April 2006, Lewis took defensive end Frostee Rucker, who has faced multiple accusations of misconduct with females. Now, it's Brooks -- who was kicked off of the Virginia Cavaliers after his junior season. Jason Cole, formerly of the Miami Herald and now of Yahoo! Sports, reported that Brooks failed multiple drug tests while in college. Nice job, Marvin. I would've taken him in Rd 4 on, but Rd. 3 was a little early. We'll see how the kid does. |

Brooks is a good pickup that would have been a first rounder if he could stay away from off-field issues and the bud. We'll see what happens.

I expect a hell of a lot from any player who was passed over by thirty two teams seven times. |

The attitude of that team had them on may "Might Drop" list. Now they're lower.

Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
I was actuley surprised because i'd figure some team would have wasted a second on him particularly the 49ers they needed talent and looked desperate but im glad they didnt bite but what surprised me as well is the jets ahve 2 second rounders next year one given to them by us ha but i guess mangini talked to groh and got negative remarks by broks former coach at virginia. If the redskins werent soo deep with potential talent at lb i would like to see them take a chance on undrafted lb dan dixon did you guys check out the stats on this guy damn.

Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
no way gibbs even considered this guy. he passed on randy moss when he had the chance (and TO) and both are PROVEN studs at a position that's harder to stock.
No one was going to waste a 2nd on him, and i think a 3rd might be too much. marvin liked his thug crew in baltimore, and now he's working on his new gang in big cinncy :P |

Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
To Brooks credit, he has passed like 5 drug tests in the past 10 weeks. I kind of hope he makes it in the NFL. Nothing disappoints me more than wasted talent. It makes you feel good when read about someone waking up one day and taking charge of their life. Not saying he has yet, but let's wait and see.
