Will Portis Reach 1,000 yards this season?

I was thinking about this the other night. CP has had a disasterous start. Week 1 -I will never understand why someone didnt intervene and tell him your not fit to play, week 2 missed, they say he will be playing this sunday but I think he will semi be effective and used. With his injury, 2 weeks gone by, and other backs to share the workload it could be possible that he doesnt reach 1,000 yds, this season and that is sad to me.

First off, he was cleared to play week 1. Should they have just held him out? You can't be scared to play someone. If the doctors clear him, and Portis himself says he's ready, you play him.

He got tweaked against the Vikings but it wasn't related to his preseason injury.

He has plenty of time to reach 1000. Hitting 1000 isn't even that big of a deal anymore. He has 13 games left, he would only need to average 77 yards per game to do it.

thats what they say, but honestly, most secondary injuries are cause by overcompensating for the original. The doctors and training staff are also employeed by the team and not the players and i think springs was probably rushed back due to the craptacular defense played in his absence.

that said, I think portis can easily hit 1k, though 1.5k is probably out right now.

Year Team G GS Att Yds Avg Lg TD 20+ 1st
2003 Denver Broncos 13 13 290 1591 5.5 65 14 13 76

Yes I think he is fully capable of getting 1000 yds this year. I don't think 1500 is out of the question.

With Gibbs in Dec record + Saunders offense I think he will be a monster after game 8 at the latest. It is just going to take a bit to get this O cranking.

If I could caviat that with a thought (hope?) I think there is a good shot at him getting 2K total yds- he is going to be phat recieving out of the backfield.

You're right, I think if Betts played the remaining games he could rack up a 1000 yds. I think in today's NFL the truly prolific backs hit 1300-1500 yds.

I'll tell you who's off to a good start, and that's Warrick Dunn.

You're right. Thomas Jones is looking amazing with his 3.0 ypc so far this season. Last years 1300 yard season wasn't a fluke at all. And Cedric Who? looks even better with his 2.8 ypc.

Brunell, because while he may be a woman on the inside, he's not a woman on the outside like Grossman.

His name suggests to me that he enjoys men in tight jeans.
