Excessive Celebration Question:
How do the Giants not get flagged when the whole team gets together and pretends to shoot a basketball (beyond lame.) That seems like a group celebration to me that's chereographed.

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
Good question, seems like a group celebration to me which is a no-no.
Didn't the league tell them to stop the group stuff so that's why you only see individuals doing it now? |

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
The league told them to stop doing it in tandem.. Of course it was the week AFTER the Redskins game.

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
They need to either outlaw celebrations or allow them, none of this in between garbage, that is the only solution. And yes, the jump shot is one of the lamest celebrations in recent time. Those giants need to learn from the old falcons or current bengals before they trademark something.

About team celebrations in general, I personally think the rules are kind of lame. Let people celebrate, big whoop. The league shouldn't have to run around enforcing it.

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
It is actually kinda funny with these new rules. When a player scores, and starts to celebrate, all the players run to him, and it is usually some big ass OL guy who is holding his arms out, telling others to not get involved. And they all look at the celebrater, until he is done.
The whole way it plays out seems a bit odd to me lol. It seems unnatural and takes away from the moment IMO.

My wife was asking me if the team designates a fat guy to keep them from getting too flashy and getting a penalty... I noticed it after she said it that it does happen like every TD!

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
Im kinda getting tired of seeing marcus washington playing the air guitar, but it is a million times better than the basketball shot.
Washington slapping the ref's ass after sacking bledslow last year was my all-time fav. celebration by anyone.

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
I think the NFL should stop with the celebration stuff. I mean, a ref can tell if it's unsportsman-like ... and in that case, he should call a penalty. Isn't that enough?
On another note: if I were an NFL player, I'd never celebrate unless I just made an incredible play (e.g.: Vick beating the whole Viking defense to run for a TD in overtime). All of this celebrating for a 1 yard TD run is bullshit.

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
I miss The Fun Bunch celebration. I mean that was not to demoralize anyone, it was just a team gesture.

Re: Excessive Celebration Question:
I agree...it's a very lame (and STUPID) celebtration.
It would be as stupid as if a basketball player struck the Heisman pose after a dunk. |
