Where Will They Be in 2007?

Unfortunately, as a Redskins fan right now all I have to look forward to is the off season.

We've discussed free agency in general and even how the Redskins may approach the free agency market during the off season, but I wanted to take a look around the rest of the NFL. All of these guys aren't free agents, but they are interesting names nontheless.

Here we go.

Dante Culpepper - A combination of Joey Harrington starting to play well and a set back on the knee rehab, could land Culpepper elsewhere? To think instead of facing Drew Brees this weekend, it could have been some second string scrub.

Byron Leftwich. The writing is pretty much on the wall. I would be shocked if he ended up back in Jacksonville next year. Why is it that I see Al Davis all over this one?

Brian Griese. By all accounts, they have three starting quarterbacks on their roster, but it's possible that Griese could be the best out of them all.

Chris Simms. He's pretty much made it clear that he's going to test the FA market. I think Tampa has to bring this guy back. Bruce Gradkowski isn't the answer in my opinion.

Mark Brunell. I think the potential cap savings will be tempting for the Redskins to part ways with Brunell, but he's a Gibbs favorite.

Priest Holmes. He's made it pretty clear he'll be playing football next year, I'm just not sure it will be with the Chiefs.

Marshall Faulk. Yep, you're reading that correctly. According to him his knees feel fine and he still feels he can contribute to an NFL team. We'll see.

Please discuss

I hope the Redskins do not sign any of them. This is a list of washed up free agents.

My bad if the thread sounded like the Skins should look at these guys - hell no!

I just thought here are some names that could affect personnel moves elsewhere.

No idea. I don't even know if he will leave Miami.

I agree with ya 12th, I see him landing in Oakland.

Chicago, hes not going anywhere.

He has been offered a contract for 2 yrs by Tampa, so I'm gonna say he stays.

He will be here next year.

Not a huge market for backs. I say he stays.

Ditto for faulk. He stays.

Re: Where Will They Be in 2007?

Culpepper -
He Stays. They invested a 2nd rounder, and they'll probably want to give him another chance (most teams place a high value on a 2nd rounder ).

Leftwich -
Definitely gone. Oakland has the biggest need, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went to Cleveland, Tampa, or Minnesota.

Griese -
He Stays. Grossman is too unpredictable, and Lovie is too smart to underestimate the value of Griese.

Simms -
If he was offered a contract by Tampa, then he needs to take it before they change their minds. I doubt he'd get much in FA after sitting out a year.

Brunell -
If we go on a wild FA spree again, and we need the cap space, then he's gone (unless he restructures). I think we'll be quiet in FA, and he'll stay. However, I'm not convinced that MB is happy being a backup -- after all, that's basically why he left Jax.

Holmes -
I'm a little skeptical about him. When I heard about his spinal injury, I thought it was one of those things where the docs would say, "You can play, but if you take the wrong hit, you may become paralyzed or die." If he does come back, he'll probably stay in KC.

Faulk - Hahahahahaha. He'd be a fool to quit his cushy job in show biz.

Poopoo stinky that list is. Not a one would I even consider for just about any good football reason.

Other than Simms and Leftwich, everyone on that list is old or habitually injured. Simms ain't all that, and Leftwich has either been hurt or decent at best. Pass on all, thanks.

Culpepper will be a Dolphin next year without a doubt. They knew he was injured when they made the commitment. They aren't like fans, they don't give up after one year.

Yeah I agree, and even though Harrington has played ok he's not their future. Culpepper rushed back and the team made a mistake in allowing him to. If he's back to 100% next year he's easily their starter.
