Re: David Macklin our new CB
Good depth. Kinda Suprised, I thought we were in pretty good shape?
Nice to see a local product though, went to High School In Newport News, Va. at Menchville High, NICE MOVE!

Re: David Macklin our new CB
Soooo, is Springs gonna be a June 1st casualty? Is he gonna move to safety? I like the depth move though, plus he has good size at 206 lbs.
I also like that the Eagles wanted him and we got him instead.

Re: David Macklin our new CB
What up Freddy. I'm not.....I'm a PHANTOM #1, I do have one daughter that's still a Monarch and son at UVA, the colors and school are real good. The football team has much to be desired?
When Macklin was a Monarch the team was much better. Local boy does good, nice to see him comin home!

Don't know much about Macklin but if he can help it's a good pick-up.

This might not mean anything for Springs.

Re: David Macklin our new CB
I like this move. I know there were several of us clamoring for him. Good depth. We still have no heir apparent to Springs to be a "#1 corner" though

Re: David Macklin our new CB
maybe its because time has faded some of my memories of carlos' play last year but coming into his 3rd season under g williams it is time he steps up and becomes our #1 corner . . i think a healthy springs is alot better than carlos but with a less than 100% springs (did he ever get that surgery or is he going to "tough it out" again?) due 7 plus mil this year and more next year the time is now to trade him (if possible, lions seem desperate but that means CJ and no DL, doh!) . . if we wait a year we mostly likely will have to cut him and get nothing in return and maybe less friendly cap consequences than a trade scenario . . . i loved springs when he was healthy, really solidified a good bit of our D but i think his time has come and rogers has arrived, he will continue to grow just hang on to the damn ball!!!!!

Re: David Macklin our new CB
2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 71 | Key Alert: None Comment: Macklin is extremely competitive and consistent. He works hard and plays taller than his listed size. He is tough, aggressive and can high-point the ball. He has very quick feet and plays under control. He has good short-area skills and is very effective in cover 2. He shows excellent cover instincts, understands route concepts and makes good decisions from off coverage. He can squat and close quickly against three-step drops. He is very effective in run support. He will attack downhill and is a solid hitter and wrap-up tackler. But Macklin lacks quality size and athleticism for the position. He isn't very effective in press coverage. He lacks top-end speed and struggles to recover if his jam isn't perfect. He has some trouble downfield against bigger receivers and on jump balls. He is much more effective in the slot than out on an island. |
